What beautiful weather again today! Already got a farmer's tan going on. Kevin took the day off and we accomplished many tasks around the farm. He put a ton of manure on the garden and tilled it. We got most of the lawn mowed, and many flower beds and trees mulched around. I worked on my wattle fence a bit although it doesn't seem to be going to well. I might have to rethink that project. We picked all the violets and started a batch of violet jelly. The kids happily played in the sunshine, mud, and the creek all day after finishing 2 more days worth of schoolwork. They are pushing to finish up as fast as possible now that we are having such good weather. In the evening Mom and Dad came down and we planted potatoes, arugula, beets, turnips and peas. We will get to the onions and broccoli in a day or two. This is one of my favorite times of the year.
I am a stay at home, homeschooling mom to 3 crazy kids, and wife to a husband who puts up with us all. We have a 120 year old farmhouse we are sure will take just as long to renovate, a one acre garden and too many animals! I am trying to live a slower, simpler life without being dependant on material things, and teach my children to live in a manner that is pleasing to God. Our adventure is challenging but rewarding, and I wouldn't change it a bit.
