So far after a pathetic attempt at a garden this year, I have not put up too many things. I have made many jars of jam however. Wild Blackberry Jam, Hot Pepper Jelly from some peppers a friend gave me, and Blueberry Jam from the berries I picked at Elmlawn this year. I have a small batch of freezer pickles going at the moment too. I have been trying to salvage and put up at least one thing everyday. Today I think I'll dig up all the onions for storage. It's almost time to start fall plantings and I am hoping those things do better. The pumpkin plants seem to be taking over so I am hoping for a bunch of pumpkins in the fall.
I am a stay at home, homeschooling mom to 3 crazy kids, and wife to a husband who puts up with us all. We have a 120 year old farmhouse we are sure will take just as long to renovate, a one acre garden and too many animals! I am trying to live a slower, simpler life without being dependant on material things, and teach my children to live in a manner that is pleasing to God. Our adventure is challenging but rewarding, and I wouldn't change it a bit.
